Hairfuck (Teaser)

original music, sound design & mix

“HAIRFUCK,” an performance art directed by Vittoria Rizzardi Penalosa, features a powerful ritual-like exploration of the complex relationships women have with themselves and each other, captured through a selection of photographs and a video art piece. The women are physically connected by a single braid of hair, symbolising both the societal pressures placed on women—particularly around beauty standards—and their shared resilience in navigating these expectations. The choreography challenges the competition and jealousy often fostered between women by highlighting their interconnectedness. The braid serves as a potent metaphor for beauty standards, youth, and fertility, while also illustrating the strength and vulnerability women face in a world that measures them by superficial ideals. Through this performance, Rizzardi Penalosa sparks a conversation about reclaiming strength and solidarity among women, emphasizing the importance of collective support over individual rivalry.
